Reference
Endpoint:
solubility in organic solvents / fat solubility
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
03/04-2013
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The method corresponds to the Council Regulations EC No 440/2008, Guideline Part A – Methods for the Determination of the Physical-Chemical Properties, A.6, “Water solubility” (adopted, May 2008) and to the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals No: 105 “Water solubility“ (adopted 27th July 1995).
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Medium:
n-octanol
Solubility:
< 2 mg/L
Temp.:
20 °C
Details on results:
A saturated solution (solution with residue of the test item) of the substance was observed after 24 hours. Therefore the 1-octanol solubility of Nigrosin WLF was set to < 2 mg/L.
Conclusions:
The determined n-octanol solubility of the substance was < 2 mg/L at 20°C.
Executive summary:

With a method corresponding to the OECD Guideline 105 (flask method) the n-octanol solubility was determined to be < 2 mg/L at 20 °C. A saturated solution of the substance was observed after 24 hours.

Description of key information

The determined n-octanol solubility of the substance was < 2 mg/L at 20°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Solubility in organic solvents at 20°C:
2 mg/L

Additional information

With a method corresponding to the OECD Guideline 105 (flask method) the n-octanol solubility was determined to be < 2 mg/L at 20 °C. A saturated solution of the substance was observed after 24 hours.
