Executive summary:

The toxicity of Alcohols C12-14, ethoxylated (2 EO) towards terrestrial plants was assessed in the underlying GLP-OECD 208 study (Scholz, 1994).in the following plant species: B.alba, L. sativum, and T. aestivum. The plants were exposed to the limit test concentration of 100 mg/kg test substance for 19 days.

No toxicity and no effects on growth were observed in the terrestrial plant limit test in B.alba, L. sativum, and T. aestivum following exposure to Alcohols C12-14, ethoxylated (2 EO), resulting in a NOEC ≥ 100 mg/kg. Based on the structural similarity no effects on terrestrial plants are expected for the substance decan-1 -ol, ethoxylated (1-2.5 moles EO).

As no study on the toxicity to terrestrial plant is available for decan-1 -ol, ethoxylated, 1-2.5EO (CAS 26183-52 -8), a category read-across is prepared to an analog alcohol ethoxylate (alcohols, C12-14, 2EO, CAS 68439-50-9). The study was carried out as limit test in accordance to OECD guideline 208 and GLP (Sasol, 1994). No effects were observed for seedling emergence and growth of the three test species at the test item concentration of 100 mg/kg soil dw. This data were used for PNEC derivation.
