Additional information

Cyanoacetic acid was not mutagenic in the standard Ames assay in bacteria with and without metabolic activation. Neither Salmonella typhimurium TA102 nor E. coli WP2 were tested in these Ames tests, however, this is an acceptable restriction, because it can be assumed that cyanoacetic acid has oxidizing or cross-linking potential, which may be detected by TA102 or E. coli WP2.

There is no structural alert for genotoxicity.
