Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

At a concentration of 0.45 mg/L, the surface tension of the test substance is determined to be 70.5 mN/m at 20°C

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Surface tension:
70.5
in mN/m at 20°C and concentration in mg/L:
0.45

Additional information

In a GLP compliant study, performed according to EU method A.5, the surface tension of the test substance was determined using the ring method (Shell Research and Technology Centre, 2007). The mean value of surface tension was 70.5 mN/m. Since the test substance was shown to produce a surface tension > 60 mN/m under the conditions of the test, it is not considered to show surface active properlies according to the EC test method. Analysis of the test solution used for surface tension measurement demonstrated that the iron content was ca. 0.3 mg/L (equivalent to ca. 0.45 mg/L total test substance).
