Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

26 Jun 2008 to 27 Jun 2008
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.16 (Relative Self-Ignition Temperature for Solids)
GLP compliance:
yes
Key result
Remarks on result:
no self-ignition observed up to the melting point

Results

- No ignition was detected at temperatures below 400 °C, the upper temperature limit of the test.

- An endotherm was observed over the range 55 – 85 °C, followed later by a very shallow endotherm at approximately 127 °C, just prior to the sample temperature trace rising significantly above the oven air temperature. These endotherms are consistent with melting and correspond to two known polymorphic crystalline forms of the test substance.

- On inspection after the test, the basket was observed to be empty. This behaviour is consistent with the sample having melted during the test.

Conclusions:
No ignition was observed between room temperature and the melting point of the substance.
Executive summary:

The auto flammability of the test substance was determined according to EC test A.16 following GLP principles. No significant observation on the temperature-time curve between room temperature and the melting point of the substance.
