Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

An aliquot (around 25 mL) of test material was placed into a test tube containing a thermometer. A wire loop with which the sample could be agitated was placed inside the tube to ensure sample homogeneity during cooling. The test tube was surrounded by a glass jacket and then placed into a large beaker containing an ice/water mixture, The temperature and observations of the test material were recorded approximately every 30 seconds.

The ice/water was maintained until the test material solidified.

The determination was performed in duplicate.

Graphs of temperature (K) versus time (seconds) were constructed to obtain freezing temperature curves.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The freezing temperature of Agarbois has been determined to be 283.5 +/- 0.5K (10.35 °C +/- 0.5)
Executive summary:

The freezing temperature of Agrabois has been determined to be 283.5 +/- 0.5K (10.35 °C +/- 0.5) using a metod based on BS4633: Method for the determination of Crytallizing Point, method A1 of Commission Directive 92/69/EEC
