Endpoint:
relative density
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
31 October 2019
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Justification for type of information:
Assessed using appropriate methodology.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: Determination of relative density by pycnometer method.
Deviations:
no
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The empty and thermostated, ultrapure water-filled pycnometer was weighted in order to determine its exact volume of the pycnometer. 0.2308 g of the test item was weighted into a 100 ml volumetric flask and it was filled with ultrapure water. The solution was placed onto an ultrasound bath for 30 minutes. After reaching the saturation - most of the test item did not dissolve - the solution was filtered using 45 micron pore size PTFE syringe filter. The pycnometer was filled with the saturated solution in order to determine the weight of the saturated solution. Using this data the density of the saturated solution was calculated. Exactly weighted approximately 0.6 g test item was placed into the pycnometer and the equipment was filled with the saturated solution. Using the pre-determined density of the saturated solution, the density of solid test item was calculated.

Exactly weighted, approximately 0.6 g test item was transferred to the pycnometer then the equipment was filled with the saturated filtered solution. The analysis was made in three replicates.
GLP compliance:
no
Remarks:
Conducted under non-GLP, but to appropriate methodology.
Type of method:
pycnometer method

Key result
Type:
relative density
Density:
1.189 other: g/ml
Remarks on result:
other: Temperature not stated

Using the pre-determined density of the saturated solution, the density of solid test item was determined. The measurement was done in three replicates, the results were averaged. The relative density of the test item was determined as 1.1890 g/ml. The RSD of the results was found to be 2.47 %.

Conclusions:
The relative density of the test item from three parallel measurements was 1.1890 g/ml. The relative standard deviation was 2.47%.
Executive summary:

Using the pre-determined density of the saturated solution, the density of solid test item was determined. The measurement was done in three replicates, the results were averaged. The relative density of the test item was determined as 1.1890 g/ml. The RSD of the results was found to be 2.47 %.
