Conclusions:
The water solubility of the test item is 10.60 g/L at a mean temperature of 25°C and at a mean pH of 6.4.
Executive summary:

The water solubility of the test item was assessed according to the OECD Guideline No. 105 with GLP statement.

As the water solubility of the test item was found to be near 10 g/L during the premiminary test, the flask method was used in the confirmation test (the flask method is recommanded for substance having a solubility > 0.01g/L). The test was run at 25°C and pH 6.4. In the final confirmation test, four 250 mL flasks were used to mix 5 x 5 g of the test item with 100 mL of ultrapure water. Flasks were placed in a temperature controlled oven at 30°C under magnetic stirring. After 24 hours, two flasks were removed and placed in another temperature controlled oven at 20 +/- 0.5°C for 24 to 72 hours. After separation of the insoluble part by filtration with CME filters, the concentration of the test item in the clear aqueous phase was determined using the recommended analytical method (GC-FID, detection limit of the method was 0.5 µg/mL (corresponding to 0.025 g/L in the raw sample) and quantification limit was 5 µg/mL (corresponding to 0.25 g/L in the raw sample).

Water solubility results:

- 24h presaturation: test item concentration 10.7 g/L;

- 48h presaturation: test item concentration 10.73 g/L;

- 72h presaturation: test item concentration 10.37 g/L.

The test was considered as satisfactory as the concentrations in the two last vessels (i.e. presaturated for 72h) did not differ by more than 15%. Thus, the water solubility of the test item was found to reach 10.6 g/L at 25°C.

Executive summary:

This publication reports the mutual solubility value of water and Bis(2-chloroethyl) ether. Water and Bis(2-chloroethyl) ether were brought into equilibrium in a thermostat at various temperatures ranging from 0 to c.a. 90°C, and samples of each layer were removed for analysis. Samples were analyzed  with a Gow-Mac Series 550 thermal conductivity GC, Chromosorb 101 packing, and a Hewlett-Packard 3390A recorder-integrator (GC-TCD). The solubility limit of Bis(2-chloroethyl) ether at 20°C was determined at 10.4 g/L.
