Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

48-h EC50 >117 mg/l, (hghest concentration tested, measured by DOC, according to OECD 201), read-across from CAS 1066-42-8

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No data are available with the registered substance, a study however is available on its silicon hydrolysis product dimethylsilanediol (CAS 1066-42-8). A 48-hour EC50 value of >117 mg/L and NOEC of ≥117 mg/L have been determined for the effects of dimethylsilanediol on mobility of Daphnia magna.

Dibutoxy(dimethyl)silane also produces butan-1-ol (n-butanol) as a result of hydrolysis. An OECD SIDS (2001) is available with n-butanol (CAS 71-36-3) indicating invertebrate (Daphnia magna) EC50s in the range 1300 to 1900 mg/L.
