Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Explosiveness of Acid Black 234 can be waived because based on the outcomes of the DSC analysis  the enthalpy was recorded at 326 J/g and the onset at 252 °C.

Moreover, similar substance 1 differs from Acid Black 234 only for the presence of a nitro group on the most external part of the molecule. Phys-chem properties for the two substances are pratically identical; the missing nitro group can only lower the risk for flammability and explosion, thereforethe experimental results for similar substance 1 for explosiveness can be assumed to be a good evalution also for explosiveness of Acid Black 234.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the above considerations no classification for explosive properties has been warranted under EC 1272/2008
