Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Component of a Polyurethane System
Polyoxypropylene triamine
(39423-51-3) 60-100%
Analytical method:
photometric method
Key result
Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
-1.13
Temp.:
20 °C
pH:
12.7
Remarks on result:
other: non-buffered pH
Details on results:
Because the results are obtained by testing the individual solubilities, the aqueous phase was not buffered and therefore the estimated log Pow is the partition coefficient at a non-buffered pH.

The test temperature is kept constant (± 1 °C) within the range of 20 to 25 °C.

Conclusions:
The log Pow of the substance is -1.13 at 20 °C and a pH of 12.7.

Description of key information

The log Pow of the test substance was determined to be -1.13 at 20°C and a pH of 12.7 (non-buffered pH), following EU test method A.8 using the estimation method based on individual n-octanol and water solubilities (Baker, 2010).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Log Kow (Log Pow):
-1.13
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

The sample possesses surface active properties and this is confirmed by the surface tension result. As per EC recommendation, an estimate based on calculation or individual n-octanol and water solubilities should be provided for surface active materials. The results were obtained by testing the sample to determine the individual solubility of the sample in each phase. Individual solubilities were determined by UV spectrophotometer analysis.
