Endpoint:
relative self-ignition temperature (solids)
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: see 'Remark'
Remarks:
The reliability is rated 2 because the study followed the standard guideline of reference (EU A.16 method), which describes a procedure designed to evaluate this endpoint, the results were reviewed for reliability and assessed as valid. Nevertheless no information was available wheter or not the study was conducted under GLP condition.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
Under the experimental condition, the relative self-ignition temperature was defined to be 265°C.
Executive summary:

The purpose of this test was to provide preliminary information on the relative auto-flammability of Sepisol Fast Violet 2B at elevated temperatures following the EU method A.16.

Approximately 8 mL of the substance under test is placed in a piece of stainless wire mesh (2x2x2 cm) in an oven at room temperature. Temperature/time curve relating to conditions in the centre of the sample is recorded while the temperature of the oven is increased gradualy to 400 °C.

Under the experimental condition, the relative self-ignition temperature was found to be 265°C.
