Description of key information

The skin corrosion and skin irritation potential of the test substance were assessed by in-vitro tests on a human epidermis model (EPISKIN). The eye irritation potential was assessed by using the bovine corneal opacity and permeability test.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin irritation / corrosion

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
adverse effect observed (irritating)

Eye irritation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not irritating)

Additional information

Effects on skin irritation/corrosion: irritating

Justification for classification or non-classification

The result of the study of in-vitro skin corrosion based on MTT reduction (formazan formation) is that the test substance is not corrosive to skin. Hence the substance does not need to be classified as skin corrosive. The in-vitro skin irritation test also based on MTT reduction does show skin irritancy.

The BCOP in-vitro study on eye irritancy showed that the test substance is not an eye irritant.
