Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
relative self-ignition temperature (solids)
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
13 February 2023
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study with acceptable restrictions
Justification for type of information:
Non-GLP study; suitable for registration and classification.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.16 (Relative Self-Ignition Temperature for Solids)
Deviations:
not specified
GLP compliance:
no
Specific details on test material used for the study:
No further details in the study report
Key result
Remarks on result:
no self-ignition observed up to the melting point
Remarks:
The temperature of the sample did not reach 400°C by increasing the temperature of the oven to around 325°C and therefore no relative self-ignition temperature was measured. Fumes were observed from 140°C. The wire mesh cube and the test item were visually checked after the determination. Test item was left in the wire mesh cube at the end of the measurement. The remaining test item was degraded.
Conclusions:
The temperature of the sample did not reach 400°C by increasing the temperature of the oven to around 325°C and therefore no relative self-ignition temperature was measured.
Fumes were observed from 140°C. The wire mesh cube and the test item were visually checked after the determination. Test item was left in the wire mesh cube at the end of the measurement. The remaining test item was degraded.
Executive summary:

The purpose of this test was to provide preliminary information on the auto-flammability of the test item RED HF2 at elevated temperatures.

Description of key information

The temperature of the sample did not reach 400°C by increasing the temperature of the oven to around 325°C and therefore no relative self-ignition temperature was measured.

No relative self-ignition was recorded as no ignition occurred up to the degradation of the test item in the wire mesh cube.
