The requirements for repeatability of the DIN standard are stated as follows: Three lowest values of the main test have to lie within a range of 5 K (if auto ignition temperature is below 300 °C) respectively 10 K (if auto ignition temperature is above 300 °C).

The following lowest values were recorded:

The lowest value of the auto ignition temperature is282 °C. This value was determined using 17 drops test item. The test item showed auto ignition after 19 seconds.

The auto ignition temperature (result of determination) is the lowest value from the lowest values of the three experiments, rounded down to a whole multiple of 5 °C. Therefore, the auto ignition temperature isstated as 280°C.

In the DIN, the following limits are applied to the range of lowest values which may be used for evaluation:

Table9.2‑a      Acceptable ranges[1]

Auto ignition temp.

Range

< 300 °C

difference between three values of the main test max. 5 K

The three lowest values of the main test lay within a range of 5 K (as required for auto ignition temperatures below 300 °C). The largest difference between measuredignitiontemperatures was 3 K.

The study was conducted according to procedure and demands of EU-Method A.15 and DIN 51794. The acceptable range which is demanded in the DIN standard was fulfilled.

All measured values show good correlation. No observations were made which might cause doubts concerning the validity of the study outcome.

[1]These values apply for performance of the three determinations by at least two persons. If only one person performs the three determinations, the limit differences are halved.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The auto ignition temperature was determined in three independent determinations. A lowest value of the main test of 282°C was found. Therefore, the auto-ignition temperature according to EU A.15 (rounded down to a whole multiple of 5 °C) of Bis[2-(diethylamino)ethyl]adipate is stated as 280°C.
Executive summary:

The auto ignition temperaturewas determined in three independent determinations. A lowest value of the main test of 282°C was found. Therefore, the auto-ignition temperature according to EU A.15 (rounded down to a whole multiple of 5 °C) of Bis[2-(diethylamino)ethyl]adipate is stated as 280°C.
