Experimental data on the adsorption potential of isobutyl laurate (CAS 37811-72-6) are not available. Values calculated with KOCWIN Program (v2.00) indicate a low potential for adsorption (Birkhofer, 2015). Calculations for the substance based on the molecular connectivity index (MCI) resulted in a log Koc value of 3.82. Based on the log Pow of 8.95 determined for the substance a log Koc of 5.81 was calculated. The log Pow value of the substance is outside the Pow range of the training set of the log Pow method (log Koc: -2.11 – 8.12). Therefore the log Koc value of 5.81 obtained for the component should be considered with caution. The definite values may not be fully reliable but indicate a high adsorption potential. Generally, longer fatty acid C-chain lengths and higher degrees of esterification (diester, triester) are expected to show higher adsorption potential than shorter fatty acids chains or monoester fatty acids, for which reliable values are available. Considering the estimated log Koc range for this substance of 3.81 – 5.81, a potential for adsorption cannot be excluded.
