Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Partitioning of substances into the different environmental compartments depends mainly on their physico-chemical properties. Since the water solubility of Hydrocarbons, C11-C13 (odd numbered), n-alkanes, <2% aromatics is very low (undecane/tridecane: < 0.1 mg/L) and the log Pow value (undecane: 6.54; tridecane: 6.73) as well as the vapour pressure (undecane: ~ 7 Pa; tridecane: ~ 55 Pa) is high, the substance is expected to mainly distribute to the air and sediment. However, due to its ready biodegradability and susceptibility to indirect photodegradation, Hydrocarbons, C11-C13 (odd numbered), n-alkanes, <2% aromatics will not be persistent in the environment. Abiotic hydrolysis is not relevant, since the substance is readily biodegradable and thus expected to be eliminated through biodegradation in natural waters. However, based on the available data it can be concluded that at least the n-tridecane component of Hydrocarbons, C11-C13 (odd numbered), n-alkanes, <2% aromatics might have be bioaccumulation potential via oral uptake. However, exposure in the aqueous environment will be extremely low.
