Additional information

Epoxidised Soybean oil is a clear liquid at 50 deg C which remains clear on cooling to 25 degrees Centigrade. The pour point of Epoxidised Soybean oil has been determined to be 271 +/- 3 K and decomposed from approximately 474 +/- 0.5 K at 101.60 kPa without boiling. Epoxidised Soybean oil has an estimated relative density of 1.01 g/cm3 and has been determined to have a vapour pressure of 8.4 x 10-8Pa at 25°C using a vapour pressure balance. The partition coeffcient of the test material has been determined to be log Pow: > 6.20 (Kow = >1.59 x 10^6).

A Saferpharm study showed that the water solubility of Epoxidised Soybean oil was less than 1.36 x 10-3 g/l of solution at 20.0 +/- 0.5°C.

Hwever, the ESBO found in solution during the water solubility study represented only the lower molecular weight range of the test material components.

Calculations of water solubilities using Advanced Chemistry (ACD/Labs) Software V9.04 ((C) 1994 -2010 ACD/Labs) showed that solubility of ESBO is estimated to be < 0.02 µg/L, and thererefore,it was concluded that ESBO is "highly insoluble". The WAF solubility of EODA is < 0.05 mg/L as reported in the OECD SIDS 2006 for epoxidised oil derivatives.

The flash point of the test substance was determined to be 231°C.

The viscosity of Epoxidised Soyabean oil is typically 600 Centipoise at 20 degrees Centigrade.

The substance is not classified according to Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 or Directive 67/548/EEC.
