Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

substance decomposes before boiling >280⁰C, EU Method A.2, McLean 2012

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The boiling point of the test substance was determined by differential scanning calorimetry according to EU Method A.2. A review of the thermograms that starting at 50⁰C were variable, but showed endothermic events starting at temperatures greater than 280⁰C. The event noted at approximately 150⁰C on those thermograms that start at 50⁰C was the previously determined melting point. One thermogram had an endothermic event that occurs between 200 and 220⁰C. This event only occurred once in several experiments, and was determined to be anomalous. Close review of the thermograms that start at 50⁰C did not detect any endothermic events occurring between the 150⁰C melting point and the high temperature event starting at >280⁰C. Therefore it was concluded that the compound was decomposing before it boils. The extrapolated onset temperature, 298.50 ºC, is the temperature at which decomposition occurs.
