Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Key study: Givaudan (1995), Ready biodegradability (OECD 301 F): Ready biodegradable (> 63 % within the 10 day window, 73 % by 28 days).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

The ready biodegradability (Givaudan, 1995) was determined in a GLP compliant study performed in accordance with the standardised guideline OECD 301F (Manometric Respirometry Test) with a sufficient level of detail to assess the quality of the presented data. The study was performed to a good standard and was assigned a reliability score of 1 in accordance with Klimisch (1997). The test material was determined to be readily biodegradable. Degradation was observed to start on day 9 and reached 62% at the end of the 10 day window (days 10 to 20). The substance achieved 73% by the end of the test on day 28.

As suggested in the OECD 301F method, the toxicity of the test material for the inoculum was checked. The curve obtained with aniline alone (reference material) and with the test material plus aniline showed no toxic effect of the test material at the concentration used in the test (100 mg/L).
