Description of key information

The acute toxicity to aquatic invertebrates (Daohnia magna) for the test substance, TM 09-217 was assessed according to OECD Test Guideline 202. Daphnids (20/concentration) were exposed to nominal concentrations ranging from 1.0, 2.2, 4.84, 10.6 and 23.4 mg/L.The experimental was under semi-static exposure conditions over a period of 48 hours with renewal of media at 24 hours.
The measured concentrations of TM 09-217 ranged between 75 and 119% of their nominal values in samples of freshly prepared media (0 and 24 hours). Levels decreased to below the limit of detection to a maximum of 65% of their nominal value in samples of expired media (24 and 48 hours). Overall results were between 0 and 86% of their starting values. The overall geometric mean measured levels of TM 09-217 were 0.282, 0.930, 2.78, 6.22 and 18.4 mg/L and these values have been used in the determination of study end-points.The study met the acceptability criteria prescribed by the protocol and was considered valid. The 48-hour EC50 of TM 09-217 for the immobilization of Daphnia magna was 1.80 mg/L (95% confidence limits of 1.38 and 2.30 mg/L).
