Additional information

Tetramethylpropylenediamine (TMPDA) toxicity to microorganisms has been investigated according to OECD test guideline 209 and GLP requirements (Doig, 2003). Since the pH of the TMPDA test solutions ranged from 8.35-9.30, it was necessary to adjust the pH to 7.5 ± 0.5. The NOEC_3h of TMPDA was estimated to be 1000 mg/L, under the conditions of this test. The validity criteria were fulfilled.

Two other studies have been performed using industrial activated sludge and the effect of TMPDA on microorganisms was assessed during 30 min (BASF, 1985; 1987). No toxicity has been observed at the highest concentrations.
