Description of key information

Short-term toxicity to fish


In a semi-static Fish, Acute Toxicity Test according to OECD TG 203 with O.mykiss a 96-hour LC50 of 74 μg a.s./L (mean measured) was determined. By applying a geomean approach taking into account four additional guideline studies as supportive information an overall LC50 of 118.1 µg a.s./L was derived. The LC50 of 118.1 µg a.s./L is considered as key value for the risk assessment.


 


Long-term toxicity to fish


In a Fish Full-Life-Cycle Test according to EPA OPPTS 850.1500 with Pimephales promelas a NOEC of 1.35 µg/L (mean measured) was determined. The reproduction endpoints number of eggs per F0-female per day and the cumulative number of eggs produced by the F0-female were the most sensitive endpoints (NOEC: 1.35 μg a.s./L in both cases). The EC10 of 1.27 μg a.s./L based on the endpoint  number of eggs per F0-female per day is considered as key value for the risk assessment.


 


Short-term toxicicty to aquatic invertebrates


In a static acute toxicity test to Daphnia magna according to OECD TG 202 an EC50 of 73 µg a.s./L (measured) was determined. By applying a geomean approach taking into account additional guideline studies with Daphnia magna as supportive information an overall LC50 of 120.83 µg a.s./L was derived. The LC50 of 120.83 µg a.s./L is considered as key value for the risk assessment.


 


Long-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates


Freshwater species:


In a chronic flow-through study according to US EPA FIFRA 72.4 similar to the current OECD TG 211 with Daphnia magna, the 21-day NOEC and EC10 based cum. offspring per survived parent was determined to be  7.3 μg a.s./L (mm) and 10.9 μg a.s./L (mm), respectively.


Marine species:


In a mysid Full-Life-Cycle Test according to EPA OPPTS 850.1350 with Americamysis bahia a NOEC of 1.64 µg a.s./L (mean measured) was determined. The 28-day survival of F0 mysids and the F1 survival of days 4, 7 an 11 were the most sensitive endpoints (NOEC: 1.64 μg a.s./L in both cases). The lowest EC10 of 1.71 μg a.s./L derived based on the endpoint  F0 survival after 28-days of exposure. The NOEC of 1.64 μg a.s./L is considered as key value for the risk assessment.

Toxicit to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria


The toxicity of the test item to the freshwater green algae Selenastrum capricornutum (currently known as Raphidocelis subcapitata) was determined in a test according US.EPA 1984 and ASTM 1984 standard procedures for the acute toxicity testing of freshwater green algae, and in compliance with GLP principals. The test determined an 120-hour ErC50 of 32.2 µg a.s./L and an 120-hour ErC10 of 9.05 µg a.s./L based on mean measured concentration.


 


Toxicity to aquatic plants other than algae


In a semi-static Higher Plant Toxicity Test according to OECD TG 221 with L. minor a 7-day ErC50 of 1042 μg a.s./L (mean measured) was determined. The overall NOEC of 24.6 µg a.s./L (mean measured) was established.


 


Toxicity to microorganisms


The calculated EC50 of Dithane M-45 was 25 mg a.s./L (95 % confidence interval 7 to 102 mg a.s./L). The EC20 was 0.924 mg a.s./L (95 % confidence interval 3 to 47 mg a.s./L, and the EC80 was 47 mg a.s./L (95 % confidence interval 13 - 236 mg a.s./L).

Additional information
