Preliminary test

A small endothermic effect was observed up to a temperature of about 230°C; at higher temperatures an exothermic effect was observed, which increased with increasing temperature. During the first test, the sample lost 0.84 mg (15%) of its mass; during the second experiment, which was performed at a higher heating rate but to a higher temperature, the mass loss was 0.52 mg (21%). After both tests the samples did not appear to have changed visually.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
Melting of Pacified Reactive Black 31 was not observed. Possibly some volatile components or impurities evaporate up to a temperature of about 230°C (503 K). At higher temperatures the test substance reacts or dcomposes.
Executive summary:

The study was conducted according to EU Method A1 "Melting/Freezing Temperature".

Melting of Pacified Reactive Black 31 was not observed. Possibly some volatile components or impurities evaporate up to a temperature of about 230°C (503 K). At higher temperatures the test substance reacts or dcomposes.
