Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
UN Manual of Tests and Criteria: Test N.1 (Test method for readily combustible solids)
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period
Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
Bayscript gelb GGN is not readily combustible.
Executive summary:

The test was performed as stipulated in UN-MTC procedure Test N.1 ‘Test method for readily combustible solids’) and in EC A.10, Guideline EC 440/2008.

A preliminary screening test was performed to determine if propagation by burning with flame or smoldering occurs without wetted zone. The substance was formed into a powder train about 250 mm long by about 20 mm wide by about 10 mm high on a non-combustible, nonporous and low heat-conducting base plate. If propagation over 200 mm of the train occurs within a specified time then the full test program to determine the burning rate is carried out.

On approach of the gas flame no ignition or burning of the test substance was observed. Thus, Bayscript gelb GGN is not readily combustible.

Endpoint:
self-heating substances / mixtures
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
UN Manual of Tests and Criteria: Test N.4 (Test method for self-heating substances)
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Test procedure:
25 mm sample cube at 140°C
Max. temp. reached:
140
Result:
negative outcome (no effect observed)
Test procedure:
100 mm sample cube at 140°C
Max. temp. reached:
139
Result:
negative outcome (no effect observed)

24 h after beginning of the heating the oven-temperature dropped down to 138 °C. This was corrected by the test personal to 141 °C 4 h later. Both temperatures are within the allowed temperature interval (+- 2 K). There is no influence to the test result.

Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
Bayscript gelb GGN is not a self-heating substance.
Executive summary:

Because of the result of the relative self-ignition temperature the test procedure according to N.4 of UN-MTC has to be performed.

The substance under test was placed in a wire cubic basket with 16 ml and 1000 mL volume. The baskets were housed in cubic container made from a mesh and placed in an oven with naturally induced venting. The oven was heated up to the test temperature. The temperatures of the center of the sample and the temperature of oven near the basket, were recorded electronically.

Bayscript gelb GGN is not a self-heating substance in the sence of UN-MTC.

Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the organic substance does not contain metals or metalloids and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Endpoint:
pyrophoric solids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
