Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Diss Factsheets

Administrative data

Endpoint:
eye irritation, other
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study need not be conducted because the available information indicates that the criteria are met for classification as corrosive to the skin or irritating to eyes
the study need not be conducted because the substance is a strong acid (pH <= 2.0) or base (pH => 11.5)
Cross-reference
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
data waiving: supporting information
Reference
Endpoint:
water solubility
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
test procedure in accordance with generally accepted scientific standards and described in sufficient detail
Justification for type of information:
In-house data assessment.
Substance is manufactured in water as ca 38% solution.
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 105 (Water Solubility)
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Substance is supplied as water-solution and investigation was performed to confirm solublity.
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
other: Observations
Key result
Water solubility:
> 380 g/L
Conc. based on:
test mat.
Temp.:
20 °C
pH:
ca. 1.5
Water solubility:
ca. < 15 mg/L
Conc. based on:
test mat. (total fraction)
Remarks:
Chromium
Temp.:
20 °C
pH:
> 5.5
Details on results:
pH 1.5 Soluble . There was no increase in the weight of the membrane used for the test and therefore all the substance remained soluble at that pH.
pH 5.5 Poorly soluble The concentration of soluble Cr(NO3)2OH from the original substance was < 15 mg/kg
Conclusions:
The solubility is very pH dependant with precipitation at neutral or alkaline pH resulting in very low water solubility expected under environmental conditions.
The substance supplied is very acidic and remains in solution.
