The results of the tests on the determination of the density of the test substance are given in Table 1.

The individual measurements were obtained with an accuracy of < 0.02 g/cm3. According to the guideline, the density of the test substance is given as the mean value.

Table 1. Density of the test substance

  Test 1  Test 2    Mean
 Density (g/cm3) 2.396 2.416 2.406
Conclusions:
The density and relevant density of the test substance was determined to be 2.41 g/cm3 at 20 °C and 2.41, respectively.
Executive summary:

In a GLP guideline study according to OECD 109 and EEC A.3, the density and relative density of Magnesium hydroxide was investigated.

A gas comparison pycnometer was used for the determination of the density and relative density of magnesium hydroxide. The density of the test substance at 20 °C was 2.41 g/cm3 (2.41 x 103kg/m3). The relative density was 2.41.

Description of key information

The relevant density of the substance was determined to be 2.41 g/ cm3 at 20 °C.
