Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Fate and Stability:

The test substance was tested in an new OECD 301 B test (2014). The 10d window was shortly failed with > 50% after 10d. After 28d a degradation of 60-70% was recorded. Based on the available test result the test substance is regraded to readily biodegradable, but failling the 10d window.

The stability in water was investigated in a hydrolysis test according to OECD test guideline 111.

Based on measured data and assuming first order reactions, hydrolysis rates and half-lives for other temperatures were determined at pH 4, pH 7 and pH 9 according to the Arrhenius equation.

By plotting the natural logarithm of the rate constants against the reciprocal of the temperature (K), the rate constants and half-lives at 20 °C and 25 °C were obtained by extrapolation.

Half-lives at 20 °C and 25 °C, calculated from the measured values:

pH        value T       emperature t½ [h]

pH 4       20 °C       117.9

pH 4       25 °C       77.1

pH 7       20 °C       183.2

pH 7       25 °C       142.2

pH 9       20 °C       187.9

pH 9       25 °C       157.9

In the context of the OECD 111 test furthermore, possible hydrolysis product were determined. The content of the hydrolysis product 1,2-dodecanediol in the combined extracts was determined to be: 4.8 mg/L
