Description of key information

The test item is poorly biodegradable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The test item was investigated for its biodegradability in the "28-Day Modified Sturm Test" according to OECD guideline 301B and GLP requirements (RCC 1996).

The test item was found to be slightly biodegradable by 13.1 % by the end of the 28-day test period.

In the abiotic control, containing the test item and sterile test medium, a slight abiotic degradation of 9.4 % was noted by the end of the 28-day test period. In the toxicity control, containing both the test item and the reference compound Aniline, no inhibitory effect on the microorganisms was observed.

Comparable results were provided by another Modified Sturm Test performed with the test item by NOTOX B.V. (1996). Here, 14.7 -17.0% biodegradation was recorded after 28 days of incubation.
