Description of key information

Using the dry sieve method in order to determine the particle size distribution of the test item a range of 250 μm to 75 μm was found which covers at least 80 % of the particle size distribution.

Additional information

A study was conducted according to CIPAC MT 170 Part B using dry sieve analysis to determine the particle size distribution of the test item. Therefore seven sieves of different mesh sizes were used. The mesh sizes of the test sieves were 3350, 2000, 1000, 500, 250, 125, and 75 μm respectively. The test sieve with the finest mesh was put in the hand sieving apparatus on the pan, the calculated mass of the test item was added on the sieve and the lid was fit. The mass of the material which has passed the sieve was recorded to the nearest 0.1 g. The procedures were repeated with all other sieves, from finest to coarsest. A range of 250 μm to 75 μm was found which covers at least 80 % of the particle size distribution. No observations were made which have caused doubts concerning the validity of the study outcome.
