The substance is not classified as flammable, flammable in contact with water, pyrophoric, self-reactive substance, self-heating substance and organic peroxide.

Flammability
A study was conducted according to Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 and UN RTDG MTC Test N.1 to determine the flammability of the test item. A small amount of the test item was heated on a magnesia groove with a gas burner in order to derive safety precautions. The test item changed its colour to slight green. A part of the test item melted and a black residue remained which bloated in the heat. No ignition occurred within two minutes. Therefore, the test item was considered as not highly flammable.
Pyrophoric properties
In accordance with section 2.9.4 Annex I of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 and ECHA guidance on the application of CLP Criteria section 2.10.4.2 the classification procedure for pyrophoric liquids and solids needs not to be applied when experience in manufacturing or handling shows that the substance or mixture does not ignite spontaneously when coming into contact with air at normal temperatures. Based on the experience in handling and use the substance is not known to ignite spontaneously when coming into contact with air at normal temperatures. Thus, no study was conducted.
Substances which, in contact with water, emit flammable gases
In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VI and with Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 Annex I section 2.12.4.1 the classification procedure for this hazard class needs not be applied if:
a) The chemical structure of the substance or mixture does not contain metals or metalloids; or
b) Experience in handling and use shows that the substance or mixture does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water; or
c) The substance or mixture is known to be soluble in water to form a stable mixture.
The substance does not contain metall or metalloids. Based on the experience in handling and use, the substance does not react with water and in addition the test substance is not pyrophoric . Thus, no study was conducted.
Self-reactive substances
In accordance with section R.7.1.10.4 ECHA guidance IR/CSA chapter R.7a, section 2.9.1 ECHA guidance on the application of CLP criteria and UN-MTC section 5.1 appendix 6 the test for self-reactive substances was waived.
The test item does not contain any functional groups quoted in ‘UN Manual of Tests and Criteria’ (fifth revised edition, appendix 6, table A 6.1 and A 6.2) or Bretherick’s – Handbook (6th Edition, Volume 2, p 128 ff) which may indicate explosive or self-reacting properties. Therefore, it can be concluded by expert judgment that the test item does not meet the criteria for self-reactive substances, Thus no classification procedure for self-reactive substances was required.
Self-heating substances
A study was conducted according to UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods Manual of Test and Criteria section- 33.3.1.6 Test N.4: “Test method for self heating substances to determine the self heating ability of the test item. Therefore test item was filled in stainless steel wire mesh with 0.05 mm where the length of each edge was 100 mm. According to the test procedure the first test was conducted at 140 °C. The test item and the oven temperature were measured for 24 hours. No increase of the temperature in the test item of 60 °C above the oven temperature, let alone signs of ignition, were observed in the first experiment. Therefore, no other experiments were necessary. In conclusion the test item has not to be classified as self heating substance. No observations were made which might cause doubts concerning the validity of the study outcome.
Organic peroxides
In accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 Annex I section 2.15.1 only organic peroxides have to be tested according to the UN-MTC, Part II test series A-H. Based on the structure it can be concluded that the substance is not an organic peroxide. Thus, no tests were conducted.
Justification for classification or non-classification
Based on the study results, the molecular structure and experience in handling and use, the substance was not classified and labelled as flammable, flammable in contact with water, pyrophoric, self-reactive substance, self-heating substance and organic peroxide according to Directive 67/548/EEC (DSD) and Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP).
In accordance with UN-Transport regulations the substance has not to be classified as readily combustible solid and / or self reactive substance in Class 4 Division 4.1 , as self-heating substance in Class 4 Division 4.2, as substances which in contact with water emits flammable gases in Class 4 Division 4.3 and / or as organic peroxide in Class 5 division 5.2.
