Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The parent was not tested for technical reasons (hydrolytic instability). The 48-hr EC50, immobilization, of the hydrolysis product: >100 mg/L (nominal) (OECD 202). No immobilization was seen up to the highest concentration tested.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

C4 fluorinated isonitrile is gas which, to the extent it dissolves in water, is hydrolytically unstable. We have proposed adaptation of the testing requirement for short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates, substituting direct testing of the hydrolysis product. In the key study conducted as per guideline OECD 202, the heptafluoroisobutyramide hydrolysis product had no effect on Daphnia magna mobility up to 100 mg/L, the highest concentration tested. In a supporting, non-guideline study, no mortality to Daphnia magna was seen up to a nominal concentration of 100 mg/L of heptafluoroisobutyramide.
