Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 103 (Boiling Point/Boiling Range)
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.2 (Boiling Temperature)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
differential scanning calorimetry
Key result
Decomposition:
no
Remarks on result:
other: The test item had no boiling point up to 450 °C.

The measurements in aluminium crucibles with a hole showed an endothermal effect (melting) in the temperature range of 110 - 155 °C No further endothermal effect could be observed after melting up to approx. 450 °C. Above approx. 450 °C the baseline showed an ambiguous behavior. Therefore it could only be stated that there is no boiling point up to 450 °C.

Conclusions:
The test item had no boiling point up to 450 °C.
Executive summary:

A study was conducted according to OECD test guideline 103, Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 method A.2 to determine the boiling point of the test item using differential scanning calorimetry (reference 4.3 -1). The test item was weighed out into an aluminium crucible under an inert atmosphere (nitrogen). Two tests with about 10 – 18 mg of the test item were performed. As reference crucible, an empty aluminium crucible was used. The test item and the reference were heated up from the starting temperature to the final temperature of 500 °C at a constant heating rate (10 K/min) in a defined atmosphere (nitrogen). The measurements in aluminium crucibles with a hole showed an endothermal effect (melting) in the temperature range of 110 - 155 °C No further endothermal effect could be observed after melting up to approx. 450 °C. Above approx. 450 °C the baseline showed an ambiguous behavior. Therefore it could only be stated that there is no boiling point up to 450 °C
