Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

hydrolysis
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is highly insoluble in water

Description of key information

According to Column 2 of REACH Annex VIII of Regulaton (EC) No 1907/2006, amended by regulation (EU) 2022/477, testing of hydrolysis as a function of pH does not need to be conducted if the substance is highly insoluble in water or if based on the structure, the substance does not have chemical groups that can hydrolyse. Due to the inherent properties of hexagonal boron nitride (practically insoluble in water, not containing functional groups that would suggest the ability to hydrolyse) testing of hydrolysis is technically not feasible and not required.
