Additional information

Three acute toxicity studies were available for n-Butyl-3 -hydroxybutyrate and evaluated to be key studies. All three definitive studies were based on preliminary range-finding results and conducted as Limit Tests following OECD guidelines. No acute toxicity was reported for exposure to fish, daphnids or algae. Analytical measurements of test material in the fish and daphnid acutes showed values that were 80 to 120% of nominal concentrations so these studies report nominal values for endpoints. The algal study had some loss of test material with 63.4% recovery and therefore, algal endpoints are reported as mean measured concentrations. The LC50 and EC50 values from the fish and daphnid studies were > 100 mg/L (nominal), while the algal study EC50 values based on yield and growth inhibition were > 63.1 mg/L (mean measured).
