Boiling point [decachlorotrisilane]: study scientifically not necessary

Additional information

Decachlorotetrasilane hydrolyses very rapidly in contact with moisture. The boiling point study is not technically feasible as decomposition occurs immediately on contact with atmospheric moisture during sample preparation. Complete exclusion of moisture is not possible.

Three experimental studies are available. In a differential scanning calorimetry study, decomposition was observed to occur at around 100°C. The study was conducted in accordance with a known quality system and is considered to be reliable. A boiling point of 125°C under reduced pressure (2 mbar) was reported in a summary report. In a third study, a boiling point of 293°C at 1013 hPa was determined during a vapour pressure study, however decomposition of the substance was indicated at 100°C.
