Description of key information

The predicted data  from QSAR model suggests the Inhibition growth concentration (IGC50) for the test substance 4-aminonaphthalene-1,8-dicarboximide was estimated to be 356.234008789 mg/L on Tetrahymena pyriformis on the basis of growth inhibition effect.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Predicted model data and experimental study result for the test chemical 4-aminonaphthalene-1,8-dicarboximide (CAS No. 1742-95-6) with respective read across were reviewed to summarize the following information:

In key study the 48 hrs aquatic toxicity study was predicted to assess toxic effects of the test compound 4-aminonaphthalene-1,8-dicarboximide (CAS No. 1742-95-6)and the result were predicted (SSS QSAR Prediction model, 2016). The study was based on the effects of the test compound on Tetrahymena pyriformis (Bacteria) in a static fresh water system. The predicted data suggests the Inhibition growth concentration (IGC50) for the test compound was estimated to be 356.234008789 mg/l on the basis of growth inhibition effect.

Above predicted inhibition concentration for target chemical supported by experimental study for read across chemical Phthalimide (Cas no. 85-41-6) which is indicates that effect concentration i.e EC0 on the basis of inhibition of cell inhibition for 16 hrs. was found to be 260 mg/l. (SIDS INITIAL ASSESSMENT PROFILE;2005 and INERIS database,2005)

Thus, based on above all effect values, it can be concluded that the target chemical 4-aminonaphthalene-1,8-dicarboximide (CAS No. 1742-95-6) can be considered as non-toxic to micro organisms.
