Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Overall conclusion:

Based upon the assessment described in the sections below TFMEA is not PBT or vPvB.

Persistence Assessment

In an OECD Guideline 301D (Ready biodegradability closed bottle) test TFMEA achieved >50% degradation at 7 days confirming that although it was not readily biodegradable is is inherently biodegradable and therefore does not meet the criteria for it to be regarded as Persistent or very Persistent. Moreover, TFMEA is not very absorptive (log Kow <3) revealing that soil is not the target compartment for this chemical.

Conclusion on P/vP properties.

It can therefroe be concluded that on the basis of the above mentioned criteria that TFMEA is not persistent (not P) and not very persistent (not vP) in the environment.

Persistence Assessment

As the substance does not meet the criteria for being P or vP no further assessment for bioaccumulation is needed.

Toxicity Assessment

As the substance does not meet the criteria for being P or vP no further assessment for toxicity is needed.
