Description of key information

No data is available on the substance.

However, information of Similar Substance is reported. Similar Substance, historically named as Acid Yellow 099 (EC 233-748-3), was tested in two FAT. No determination of components of these FAT was carried out, thus no conclusion could be drawn whether Similar Substance is a multi-constituent or an UVCB. Accordingly, it was not possible to decide whether test substance and Similar Substance may be considered as the same.

In particular,

- FAT 20'040/A, no certificate of analysis available. In one study, purity of 82 % was given.

- FAT 20'040/B, certificate of analysis reported: 39.7 % main product and 41 % unknown coloured by-products giving a total of 77.7 %, reported as purity in studies.

Based on available studies on FAT 20'040/B, it is considered as not rapidly degradable. Indeed, the ratio BOD5/COD resulted close to 0, namely far below the threshold of 0.5, in two studies. However, in another test on FAT 20'040/A, it resulted as inherently biodegradable with ca. 45 % of degradation after 28 days and upon correction for adsorption.

Basede on this information the substance is considered to be not readily biodegradable.
