Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The test substance is a dark red powder. The melting and boiling point of the test material was determined to be >400 °C. The density was determined to be 1.67 g/cm³ (= 1.67 * 10³ kg/m³) at 19.5 °C using a gas comparison pycnometer. The median of mass distribution (diameter) of the test substance was <5.0 μm. The vapour pressure was estimated by calculation based on Meissner's method, resulting in 1.8 x 10-29 Pa at 25 °C. The log Pow of the test substance is -5.8. The water solubility was found to be at least 373 g/l (or above) at room temperature. The surface tension of the test substance is 62.4 mN/m at 20.9 °C (0.1 % aqueous solution). The self ignition temperature is 280 °C and is considered auto-flammable under the conditions of the test. The test substance is considered to be not highly flammable or explosive or oxidising. The overall behaviour of the test item in aqueous solutions will be dominated by the strongly acidic sulfonic acid groups (R-SO3H). Therefore, the molecule will be negatively charged and is present in its anionic form over the whole environmentally relevant pH range from approximatively 4 to 9.
