Additional information

Sodium sarcosinate was tested in the standard plate test and in the preincubation test with and without metabolic activation in S. typhimurium TA98, TA100, TA1535 and , TA1537 at dose levels of 20 -5000 and 4 - 2500 µg/plate, respectively. The study was conducted similar to the OECD Guideline 471 No increase in the number of revertants was detected in any strain with and without MA. Vehicle controls and positive controls were valid. Cytotoxicity was found depending on the strain and metabolic activation. Precipitation was reported.

Short description of key information:
There is information available on the genetic toxicity in bacteria. In a GLP guideline study with acceptable restrictions (missing strain for crosslinking/oxidizing agents) no increase in mutants were observed in all S.typhimurium strains tested.

Endpoint Conclusion: No adverse effect observed (negative)

Justification for classification or non-classification
