A ready biodegradability screening test was conducted (Huntingdon Research Centre Ltd, 1992) to assess the potential for S-205 to be degraded by microorganisms over a 28 -day period. The study was performed according to OECD test guideline 301D EEC Methods for the Determination of Ecotoxicity, EEC Directive 67/548 Annex V Part C.6 (84/449/EEC), Closed Bottle Test, and in compliance with GLP.
The average percentage biodegradation measured by mean oxygen depletion over the 28 -day exposure period was 4%, and so S-205 was concluded not to be readily biodegradable under the test conditions.
