For verification of test concentrations, samples were collected from additional test beakers without animals made for this porpose only. At the initiation of the test, before and after renewall at 24 hours and at the termination of the test, duplicate subsamples were collected of each test concentration.
Details on test solutions:
A stock solution of 100 mg/l were prepared by weighing out 100 mg of the test product and dissolve it in 1 l test medium. pH was adjusted to 7.8 ± 0.2 in the stock solution. The test solutions were prepared by diluting the stock solution in the test medium. The following nominal concentrations were tested: 0 (control); 2.0; 5.0; 10; 20; 50 and 100 mg/L

A strain of freshwater crustacean Daphnia magna (Straus) Cladocera, Crustacea originally isolated from Langedam (Birkerød, Denmark), har been cultured at DHI since 1979. Animals from this culture were used in the study.

The analytically determined test item concentrations in the analyzed test media samples (dilutions 1:2, 1:5, 1:10, 1:20, 1:50, 1:100 and the undiluted filtrate) amounted to 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 mg/L at the start of the test. The values found at the end of the test ranged from 83 to 104% of the initially measured values. Under the test conditions the test item was stable during the test period of 48 hours. The reported biological results are related to the initially measured test item concentrations.

The 48-hour EC50 was calculated to be 60 mg/L.
The validation of the test concentrations by chemicals analyses showed a deviation from the nominal concentration throughout the test lower than 20 per cent. Therefore, results are based on the nominal concentration.
