Description of key information

Feropur is incombustible in dry condition by the temperature of 270°C as there is no ignition or inflammation before reaching this temperature. It was found that a combustible gas (hydrogen) is released from melting Feropur in presence of water in such an amount making it necessary to claify Feropur as highly flammable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
contact with water liberates highly flammable gases

Additional information

Feropur is incombustible in dry condition by the temperature of 270°C as there is no ignition or inflammation before reaching this temperature. It was found that a combustible gas (hydrogen) is released from Feropur in presence of water in such an amount making it necessary to claify Feropur as highly flammable.

Combustion heat: 3.31 MJ*kg-1

heating value: 2.87 +/- 0.5 MJ*kg-1

Inflammation temperature 290 +/- 20  °C

Justification for classification or non-classification

It was found that a combustible gas (hydrogen) is released from Feropur in presence of water in such an amount making it necessary to clarify Feropur as highly flammable
