Description of key information

Three acute toxicity studies are available for Isobutyl Isobutyrate with exposure to fish, Daphnia magna and the green algae, Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata. All studies were conducted following appropriate guidelines and GLP methodologies. For both the fish and daphnid studies, replicates were not pooled and the resulting endpoints were reported for both replicates. For fish, reported 96 hour LC50 values were 12.5 and 14.22 mg/L, while 48 -hr EC50 values for daphnids were 55.3 and 59.3 mg/L. The algal study reported a 72 -hr value for the inhibition of growth rate (ErC50) of 23 mg/L. Fish were the most sensitive species and since two values were reported from the same toxicity test (individual replicate data), the geometric mean was used to calculate an LC50 value of 13.3 mg/L. This value was used to generate the predicted no effect concentrations.
