Description of key information

When exposed to humidity, disodium oxide (n°CAS 1313 -59 -3) instantaneously decomposes in sodium hydroxide (n°CAS 1310 -73 -2), following the equation:

Na2O + H20 -> 2NaOH

This reaction is verified weekly in a laboratory by pH measures (pH > 12 after reaction).

Testing for hydrolysis is then technically impossible and scientifically unjustified: instantaneous decomposition of Na2O in presence of humidity do not allow hydrolysis testing.
