Reference substance:
Acid Black 107 (MuCS)
PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Persistency assessment

The substance was assessed to be not biodegradable based on the available studies for ready and inherent biodegradability. Hence, it can not be excluded that the substance may fulfil the critria to be persistent (P) or very persistent (vP).

Bioaccumulation assessment

The substance was estimated to have a low log Kow (n-octanol/water partition coefficient) of 0.357. Hence, it can be concluded that the substance is neither biaccumulative (B) nor very bioaccumulative (vB).

Toxicity assessment

Short-term toxicity studies with fish, daphnids and Lemna minor are available for the substance, The lowest LC50 obtained in these studies is 0.66 mg/L from a short-term toxicity study with fish. Further, the substance did not have any adverse effect in a combined repeated dose oral toxicity study with reproductive and developmental screening. Hence, the criteria to be a toxicant (T) is also not fulfiled.
