Additional information

The requirement to conduct an n-octanol/water partition coefficient for the substance is waived because in contact with water the substance hydrolyses rapidly to form dimethylsilanediol and n-butanol.

However, the log Kow of dibutoxy(dimethyl)silane has been predicted using a validated QSAR estimation method to be 4.9 at 20°C.

The silanol hydrolysis product, dimethylsilanediol, has a measured log Kow value of -0.38 ± 0.04 at 20.2± 0.3°C; log Kaw value of -6.94 ± 0.33 at 20.2± 0.3°C and log Koa value of 6.58±0.34 at 20.2± 0.3°C using a three phase equilibrium method.

n-Butanol has a reported log Kowvalue of 0.88 (OECD 2001).
