Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

For phenol the reported LD50 value is estimated on food consumption data over a 18 hours period. The LD50 is > 113 mg/kg body weight ( Agelaius phoeniceus).no further tests with vertebrates seem to be necessary: according to the EU RAR (2006) phenol has only a low bioaccumulation potential and a risk characterisation for secondary poisoning is not required.

Additional information

For phenol the reported LD50 value is estimated on food consumption data over a 18 hours period. The LD50 is > 113 mg/kg (Agelaius phoeniceus). The R50 is > 1.00 %. No repellency/toxicity factor was calculated as both values exceed a value (LD50 larger than 113 mg/kg body weight and R50 larger than 1.00 %).

In the study no chemical analyses were performed. Nevertheless no further tests with vertebrates seem to be necessary: according to the EU RAR (2006) phenol has only a low bioaccumulation potential and a risk characterisation for secondary poisoning is not required. The study is considered to be reliable as the study was performed at a time where chemical analyses for such studies were not commonly performed.
