Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
Resorcinol will remain chemically stable indefinately when stored properly. Resorcinol is hygroscopic and therefore tends to pick up moisture when exposed to humid atmospheres. Containers should be kept closed and should be stored in a dry, cool place. Moisture will reduce the freezing point, increase the tendency for resorcinol to cake and may cause discoloration. Exposure of resorcinol to light, air and chemical vapors may causes the formation of color bodies; for example, when exposed to ammonia vapors, resorcinol develops a blue color. Contact of resorcinol with metals other than aluminum or stainless steel may also discolor the product. In contact with steel or iron, resorcinol darkens rapidly.

Resorcinol is typically shipped in 25 kilogram bags which are placed on pallets. Each pallet contains 1000 kilograms net weight. One hundred kilogram net weight fiber drums are also available. Coated bulk bags are available. when shipped in fiber drums a plastic liner is available.
